The Location of the Coming of the Messiah According to the Hebrew Scriptures
The link below provides a study showing where the Second Coming of the Messiah will take place. This subject is often misunderstood by even the most noted scholars. There is much confusion concerning the timing of the Second Coming and the Rapture of the Church, and the term Battle of Armageddon is also an event that is often misunderstood. This will detail the scriptures indicating the return of the Jewish Messiah, Yeshua (Hebrew for Jesus).
The main error about the Valley of Armageddon is that it is incorrectly named. From the Hebrew Har-Meggido or Mount Meggido. Meggido is an ancient city near the Valley of Jezreel. There is no battle here only a gathering of the Gentile armies of the Anti-Messiah against the nation of Israel. This gathering is very much like the gathering of the Allied Forces in Ryad, Saudi-Arabia in Operation Desert Storm 1 in the early 1990's. Bozrah is not the same Bosera in southern Iraq. (Both meaning sheep pen but are different locations.)
The armies are gathered, and Israel will learn of the passage:
Matthew 24:15-16, "Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains."
They heed this prophesy and flee to the mountainous wilderness in Southern Jordan (Edom) to a city called Bozrah. Bozrah is an Old Testament city in Edom whose name translates as sheep pen. The city that closely resembles a sheep pen in Southern Jordan is the ancient Roman city called Petra. A rock fortress that is highly defendable with the surrounding mountains. The remnant of Israel flees Jerusalem as foretold in Isaiah.

Interesting perspective about the second coming. Strange how little is mentioned about what those taking flight must do to survive, or just what Jesus meant by urging the readers to understand...
I think I saw a short piece on Petra on a show called that looked at "underground" places...Very interesting place, Petra, and certainly a place where one could hide...Any reason to wait 45 days (Daniel 12:12) after flight to come to Petra??
Thank You, gboyd, for your comment and questions. Allow me to share my thoughts and understanding concerning them.
Jesus was directing His message of Matt. 24:15-20 to the Jewish people - urging them to flee when they see the abomination of desolation (Dan. 9:27; 11:31; 12:11). Jesus' instructions demand immediate action for them to escape persecution and martyrdom. They must pay attention to His warnings spoken through Daniel.
A remnant will flee and survive in the mountains of Edom (probably in Petra) where they will be protected by God for 3 1/2 years. The antichrist and his invading armies will even be turned away from them (Dan. 11:41). Just as God protected and provided for Moses and the children of Israel in the desert, He will care for His remnant as well.
The remnant will flee at the mid-point of the tribulation. Scripture tells us Christ's second coming will happen 1260 days from that mid-point (Dan. 9:24-27; 12:7). His remnant will be delivered when He returns. Also, they don't wait 45 days to go to Petra after their flight - as you have questioned. The 45 days are explained as follows:
Daniel 12:11 speaks of something being accomplished at the end of 1290 days - that's 30 days extra beyond the second coming. Since Daniel 12:11 is concerned with the Temple sacrifice and "abomination of desolation," we can conclude that the first 30 day interval relates to the Temple. We know from Ezek. 40-48 that the Lord will establish a Temple during the Millennium. The 30 day period will be the time the Millennial Temple will be set up.
We read in Dan. 12:12 about those who reach the point of 1335 days. That's an additional 45 days beyond the 30 day period, giving us a total of 75 days. Those who make it through a judgment at that time will be blessed and qualified to enter the Millennium (see Matt. 25:34/sheep-goats judgment).
The 75 day interval (30 days + 45 days) is a time of preparation for the kingdom.

First the easy part, which is where we agree: The flight from Judea is yet to come, and the flight must be made in utter haste when the AoD is set up; a remnant will flee and survive; they will be (somewhat) protected from the Antichrist and his forces.
Now it gets a little more complicated owing to the vast differences of opinion we hold concerning the timing and duration of certain events.
Areas we do not agree: the remnant must survive for 3.5 years in the wilderness; the flight occurs in the middle of the 70th week; scripture tells us the exact day of Christ's Second Coming; all related points thereafter. These are all things you agree with.
Owing to the complexity of your perspective and the vastly differing interpretations we hold, I must respectfully withhold trying to support my viewpoints and disprove yours. While I am not against it altogether, I am not sure this would be the proper format for such a debate...

Gene... I appreciate your heart in this matter and the respect shown with regard to differences of opinion with Don. This is to be the heart of those who seek the Lord and understanding of His Word. The things of the future will come to pass as the Lord directs, and we who are seeking understanding will be ready for such times. Of that I have utter confidence. I'm sure Don will agree.
