Summer Camp with Hamas

On Summer Holiday With Hamas

Posted: Fri 28th August 2009 8.40 AM | Author: David Soakell Isrelate

Well it has been the summer holidays for school children, and once again, instead of playing football, cricket or buying ice cream, Palestinian kids went off to summer camp. Hamas opened, as usual, its summer camps for children and adolescents throughout the Gaza Strip with the slogan "Victory for Gaza, glory for Jerusalem."

The camps are run by the Hamas movement, and they consider the camps an important tool for inculcating the younger generation with its ideology and for fostering the next generation of terrorist operatives.

According to the Palestinian and Arab media, Hamas ran 700 camps this summer throughout the Gaza Strip which were attended by 100,000 Palestinian youths (from elementary school pupils to university students).

Preparations for them lasted months, and their 1,500 instructors participated in training courses before the season opened. Hamas appointed a committee and subcommittees responsible for running the camps. There was a marketing campaign to encourage attendance with the participation of Hamas' Al-Aqsa TV and a designated Internet site. The camps' budget was estimated at $2 million.

What happens at these camps?

Hamas claims that the camps promote social activities such as swimming, trips, sports competitions, drawing, singing, computer classes, etc, although reports of what actually goes on clearly show that at the same time, the youth undergo an intensive process of political and Islamic indoctrination (as occurred in previous years). The process is implemented by the instructors and senior Hamas figures visiting the camps.

The Hamas activists' statements do not hide the fact that the objective of the camps is to foster the movement's next generation. Abdallah al-Ghafur, a member of the summer camps' oversight committee, said that "the core of the struggle today is for the younger generation," which had to be fostered according to Islamic religious laws and trained for endurance and patience.

The Next Generation

Hamas activist Mahmoud AbuI'd said that the objective of the camps is to prepare the children to take the leadership of the path of "victory and liberation" upon themselves, hoping the camps would produce "soldiers for Jerusalem and Gaza."

Hamas shaheeds [martyrs], some of them killed in terrorist attacks, are turned into role models for Gazan youth. The biographies of Hamas shaheeds are studied by the campers. Posters of shaheeds are distributed and carried during processions. In addition, youth take part in Hamas propaganda exercises, for example, in demonstrations against the so-called "Israeli siege" or at the Rafah crossing to demand the release of Ayman Nawfal, a senior Hamas terrorist operative detained by Egypt.

Indoctrination

Hamas activists related to the theme chosen for the camp ~ " Victory for Gaza, glory for Jerusalem." They said it expressed the Gaza Strip's "victory" in Operation Cast Lead, which was "the first step toward liberating Jerusalem and all Palestine." They said the name was meant to indoctrinate the children with the status of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa as places in need of "liberation."

Palestinian youths at the Hamas summer camp wore green Hamas caps and trained with wooden and plastic rifles. The banner at the upper right, hung on a building of typical school design, reads "Allah is our goal, the messenger Muhammad is our role model, the Qur'an is our law, jihad is our path and death in jihad for the sake of Allah is our most exalted hope".

Dr. Mads Gilbert is Norweigan Maoist-Pro Palestinian

Camera

This man is a Palestinian activist...anti-Israeli and American.

From Honest Reporting and Melanie Phillips
Gilbert was presented as just an ordinary doctor. But Gilbert appears not to be just an ordinary doctor. He is a political activist and member of the Norwegian Maoist 'Red' party. Not only is he viscerally hostile to Israel and a long-standing activist in the Palestinian 'solidarity' movement, but he even supported the 9/11 attacks. A reader posting on this website -- which features a video of further inflammatory remarks by Gilbert -- provided his own translation of Gilbert's remarks to this effect, as well as Gilbert's Wikipedia entry which contained the following (translated from Norwegian):

Shortly after the attack on the World Trade Center in the United States in September 2001 stirred the excitement when Gilbert defended oppressed moral right to attack the United States. 'If the U.S. government has a legitimate right to bomb and kill civilians in Iraq, they have also suppressed a moral right to attack the United States with the weapons they had to create. Dead civilians are the same whether they are Americans, Palestinians or Iraqis.' On the direct question whether he supported the terrorist attacks on the United States, Gilbert said: 'Terror is a bad weapon, but the answer is yes, within the context I have mentioned.'

Why are media outlets relying on a radical Marxist anti-Israel propagandist for comment? And why are they portraying him as a neutral and objective source? Write to any media you see continuing to quote Dr. Mads Gilbert.

UN School a Weapons Dump and Rocket Site

January 06, 2009
The UN Gaza school was a weapons dump (updated)
Ethel C. Fenig
Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs sets us straight about that UN school "blown up" by Israelis killing "innocent civilians."

The UN and the mainstream media are wailing and accusing Israel of war crimes (yes, again) after the IDF returned fire at a UN school from which Palestinians were firing mortars.

The explosives and booby traps installed in the school by Hamas then blew up, killing dozens of people.

Yes, that's what happens. If Hamas killers fire from a hospital, a mosque, a school which they proudly taunted the Israelis were booby trapped and filled with explosives, they have no right to complain when Israelis return fire and the building explodes.

Where were the UN personnel as Hamas operatives brought in the explosives, installed the booby traps? They were probably helping them. As did the International Red Cross.

Human Wrongs Watch and the oh so sensitive Europeans who are now wailing that civilians are being harmed in Gaza just didn't notice--or more accurately, didn't care--when Israeli civilians, deliberately targeted by Hamas and its rockets, were killed and injured.

And that's not rocket science.

Update:

A previous headmaster of the Gaza UN school of weapons dumping and terrorism was, according to this May 5, 2008 Reuters exclusive,

By day, Awad al-Qiq was a respected science teacher and headmaster at a United Nations school in the Gaza Strip. By night, Palestinian militants say, he built rockets for Islamic Jihad.

When an Israeli air strike killed this Hamas respected educator last May it

embarrassed a U.N. agency which has long had to rebuff Israeli accusations that it has aided and abetted guerrillas fighting the Jewish state.

In interviews with Reuters, students and colleagues, as well as U.N. officials, denied any knowledge of Qiq's work with explosives. And his family denied he had any militant links at all, despite a profusion of Islamic Jihad posters at his home.

But militant leaders allied to the enclave's ruling Hamas group hailed him as a martyr who led Islamic Jihad's "engineering unit" -- its bomb makers. They fired a salvo of improvised rockets into Israel in response to his death.

So Hamas is responsible for killing its own civilians. But will Israel critics, the UN, Human Wrongs Watch and all the so called humanitarians dare blame Hamas and not Israel? Of course not; they'll still twist and turn and ignore facts to blame Israel.

And while the UN, Hamas and the usual gang of well you know who, huff and puff indignantly , Israel released the following regarding the sad situation at the UN school. Oh sure, those huff and puff hot air "neutral" observers will object that it is self serving but it is a more factual and straightforward account than from other not so disinterested observers.

Today, a reported 30 Palestinians were killed in a heartrending tragedy at a school in Jebaliya. Initial investigations indicate that Hamas terrorists fired mortar bombs from the area of the school towards Israeli forces, who returned fire towards the source of the shooting. The Israeli fire landed outside the school, yet a series of explosions followed, indicating the probable presence of munitions and explosions in the building. Intelligence indicates that among those killed were Immad Abu Iskar and Hassan Abu Iskar, two known Hamas mortar crewmen. (italics added)

So was this UN Gaza school still being used as a cover for a weapons dump as Hamas continues to hide behind "innocent civilians" using them as shields? And, in the horrible realm of the possible, did the two dead mortar crewmen deliberately set off the explosives in a grisly glorious act of Islamic jihad martyrdom?
Given Hamas' avowed promises fulfilled by equally deadly action these are legitimate assumptions that must be explored by all.
