As Iraq runs dry, a plague of snakes is unleashed

We learn in Scripture of the historical and prophetic significance of the great river Euphrates. Its first mention is found in Gen. 2:14 as the fourth river flowing from Eden. It is one of the boundries of the promised Land (Gen. 15:18) given to Abram. Its significance also extends into Revelation with events that will take place during the final days of the great tribulation.

Revelation 9:13-15
Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind.

Revelation 16:12
Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared.

Due to severe drought and reduced water being released through upstream dams, the water flowing in the Euphrates has dropped to unprecedented low levels causing crop failures and uninhabitable conditions for livestock and people.

The extreme low water level has also allowed a massive plague of deadly snakes to emerge on the land along the much smaller river, causing injury and death to people and animals. From Rev. 9:13-15 we know that in the last days the four fallen angels that are bound in the river will be released to destroy men. To me it's interesting that in the beginning Satan spoke through a serpent to deceive and tempt Eve in the garden. Now today, deadly serpents are appearing on the once water covered land causing havoc and death.

The Euphrates will run dry (Rev. 16:12), providing the kings of the East easy access in their march toward Israel during their final, but futile, attempt to destroy Israel and God's people. Praise God...we know that the King of Kings and Lord of Lords will return (Rev. 19:11-16) with great power and glory to destroy all evil forever.

It will all happen as prophesied. The four angels bound in the Euphrates will be released. The great river Euphrates will dry up as foretold in Scripture. However, a snake plague as experienced today is not Biblically recorded for the tribulation.

Is the drying up of the river today the beginning of the Rev. 16:12 prophecy? Or, is it a warning for the watchmen among us that we are very near the end days? We must renew and re-double our efforts to proclaim the Good News of the gospel to the lost while there's still time.

Read the amazing article titled, "As Iraq runs dry, a plague of snakes is unleashed", concerning the Euphrates water levels and the deadly snake plague.

The article contains an actual photo of the snake. It's beautiful, it's ugly, and it looks evil with the two horn-like protrusions on top of its head.

Don,
the picture and the descriptions of those deadly creatures gave me the shivers. Reminded me of another verse that says in the last days that men shall be plagued by such things. God have mercy!!
