FOLLOWING THE LORD'S COMMAND

My hat goes off to television’s Fox News channel yesterday when they had Bobby Bowden as a guest on the "Fox and Friends" early morning show.  Even more important, my hat goes off to him.

Bowden is a retired college football coach who holds the NCAA record for the most career wins and bowl wins by a Division 1 coach.  He coached the Florida Seminoles football team for 33 seasons.  He published a book about his biblical faith titled, "The Wisdom of Faith."

He is not ashamed to share the saving gospel message with others, and has never been concerned about being politically correct.  He would rather be spiritually correct.  He doesn't just say it - he lives it, by sharing biblical Truth at every opportunity - even to the millions watching Fox News.

Bowden takes Jesus' command to His disciples and to all professing believers very seriously when Jesus said to spread the saving gospel message to all - everywhere.  Those were Jesus' final "marching orders" to all believers before He ascended into heaven.  Bowden did that very thing on the Fox program.  Two of the show hosts had their mouth open in disbelief.

I believe millions were watching the program who had never heard, or perhaps they have heard but never took the message seriously.  Huge numbers of so called "Christians" are "Christian-in-name-only", and don't have a clue.  Many, if not most, churches preach a "politically correct gospel", or a "social gospel", or an "easy believe-ism gospel", or a "prosperity gospel", or no gospel - of which none are a ticket to heaven.  The saving gospel of salvation by faith alone is not about any of those things - nor, is it just about living a good life, loving others, and being a good person, as many believe for gaining entry through heaven's gates.

I got to thinking.  Are we as professing believers following Jesus' command?  Am I doing that?  If so, then, exactly how?  When was the last time we shared the saving gospel message with others using scripture?  If we have never done that, then, why haven’t we?  Are we afraid we might offend someone?  Do we know scripture well enough to clearly present the saving gospel?  Or, perhaps the reason is that although we might call ourselves "Christian", we are actually clueless as to what the saving gospel message is all about.

How might you respond to those questions?  What is my response?  We are either in the Lord’s army, or we are not.   We must think seriously about that.

At no time in history has it been more important to share the saving gospel with others.  In these last days, the world is in turmoil with violence and killing everywhere we look - just as foretold in Scripture.

My heart goes out to Israel and the Jewish people as they face daily life with uncertainty.  People there and world-wide are dying every day without the Lord in their life.
 
It is high time for the Lord's army to stand up and proclaim His Truth to the lost.  May we never forget that a believer's mission field for sharing the saving gospel extends from home to around the world.

Pray for Israel, and pray for the Arab people that they might have their eyes opened to the Truth about the True and Living God, and turn from their hate filled ideology. It is not a religion, it is a cult, and they worship a false idol and a false prophet.
