A NEW YEAR . . . A NEW BEGINNING

As we enter into a new year, it is a good time for us to reflect on the past year and then, direct our attention toward the new one. The New Year can be a new beginning in many ways for all of us.

It can be a time to abandon harmful habits and lifestyles. Relationships can be healed. Families can be drawn closer together. The New Year must also be a time of forgiveness toward others. If our walk with the Lord was less than it should have been, He is patiently waiting for us to restore our trust and dependence in Him. The list could go on and on.

Each of us should take the time to sit quietly with a note pad and write down all the ways we have been blessed by God. As the songwriter once wrote, “Count your many blessings, name them one by one. Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.” If we are honest and focus on them, the list will soon become very long. We all have been truly blessed beyond measure.

We must praise God and thank Him every day for His goodness, for abundantly providing for our needs, and for keeping us safe in the palm of His hand. Above all, we must humbly thank God for His matchless gift of salvation through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and resurrection, freely offered to all who choose to reach out by faith alone to receive it.

The Old Testament prophet Jeremiah wrote these words as recorded in Lam. 3:22-23 NASB, “The Lord’s loving kindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”

When we rise up each morning, a spirit of praise and thanksgiving should be in our hearts and on our lips. We need to say, “Thank you Lord for this day You have made. Thank You for allowing me to be a part of it. Help me to rejoice and be glad in it. Show me what You would have me do today that I might do it all for Your honor and glory.”

The psalmist penned these words in Ps. 34:1 NASB, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” In Eph. 5:18 the Apostle Paul tells us to thank God always for all things in the name of Jesus our Lord.

Psalm 103:1 instructs us to bless the holy Name of the Lord with all that is within us. This scripture simply means we are to be passionate in our thanksgiving, in our praise and in our desire to serve Him. Are we passionate in our desire to honor and serve Him?

Perhaps during the past year we did not allow God to be first in all things of our life. Maybe we have become complacent toward Him, or lack the desire for a personal relationship with Him as He requires of us. We must remember that God loves us and as Ps. 145:18 explains, He is near to all who call upon Him.

As we humbly seek His face in prayer, we must call out to Him as the psalmist wrote in Ps. 139:23-24 NASB, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Then in Ps. 51:10 NASB he writes this fervent prayer, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

God’s requirements for His blessing on our lives include humility, prayer, devotion and repentance. When we become sincere and passionate in our desire to follow Him, then God will hear us, forgive our sins, answer our prayers and pour out His blessings on us. As promised in 2 Chron. 7:14-15 NKJV, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

I urge you to begin the New Year with a firm resolve to pray to the Lord and read His Word daily. As we do that, God will speak to us and reveal Himself to us in ways we can’t imagine. Talking with Him and studying scripture is not just a good idea. God commands us to do it. From 2 Tim. 2:15, we are to be diligent in our study of scripture to accurately know the word of truth. We are told in 1 Thess. 5:17 to pray without ceasing. Jesus said in Matt. 6:5 NASB, “When you pray...” Notice that He didn’t say “if” you pray. He said “when” you pray.

Clearly, it’s impossible for us to have a personal relationship with someone we don’t know or understand. If we don’t talk with God as we would talk to a close friend, or listen to what He has to say through the scriptures, then a relationship with Him simply cannot exist. However, those who truly know Him as their Savior and Lord have placed their complete dependence and trust in Him. They have comfort through prayer and His written Word. He is their friend, their guide, their Savior and Master, and their blessed hope for all eternity.

If you have never been born again (John 3:3) by deliberately inviting Jesus into your heart and life, you can do that today. When you have Him in your life, you will truly experience a new beginning because all things will change forever.

However, before you can do that you must understand that you are a sinner in the eyes of God and need the Savior in your life. You must be ready to humbly cry out, “Oh God help me! I am a lost sinner! I need You in my life! Oh God help me now!”

Then just open your heart to Him. Don’t worry about saying everything perfectly. As long as it comes from your heart, He will hear you. When you pray just say something like this, “Dear God, I realize that I am a lost sinner. You sent Your Son Jesus to shed His blood and die on the cross for me in my place. I believe what You did for me and want my sins forgiven and washed away. I confess them to You now and invite Jesus into my heart and life as my Savior and Lord. Help me to turn away from my old ways and lead a life that is pleasing to You. Thank You for saving me today in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Whether you just said a prayer to give your heart to the Lord, or perhaps you have simply re-dedicated your life to Him, nothing will ever be the same as you live for Him. He will put His strong arms around you and will lead you by the hand as you go through the trials of life.

Jer. 29:11-13 NASB, “For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”

When you begin the New Year with the Lord by your side, it will truly be a new beginning for you like none other, and it will be for all eternity. Praise God for His amazing grace!

THE CHRIST OF CHRISTMAS

Isaiah 9:6 NKJV
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder.  And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Matthew 1:22, 23 NKJV
So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

John 1:14 NKJV
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Our Lord came here the first time...exactly as the Scriptures promised that He would.  Our Lord is sure to return a second time...exactly as the Scriptures promise that He will.

When He came the first time as God manifest in human flesh, it was the most humble of beginnings.  People did not believe, nor did they understand, that Jesus was the promised and long awaited Messiah who had come to save His people from their sins.  Because of that, almost everyone missed the first coming of the One who was the eternal King and Savior of the world.

However, when Jesus returns to earth at His second coming, He will not be seen as a helpless baby lying in an animal feeding trough in a filthy stable as He was at His first coming.  Nor will Jesus appear as a young boy sitting on the lap of the one who physically gave birth to His humanity.  He will not return as a suffering Jesus, either - naked, beaten and bleeding while hanging on a cross and dying a most horrible death.

When Jesus arrives here the second time, He will be a victorious Jesus who has conquered death and the grave.  At the second coming His fierce wrath will crush and defeat all evil, and He will be ready to declare His righteous judgment on an unbelieving world.  Nobody will miss His second coming!

Jesus will descend from heaven in great power and glory riding a milk white stallion - followed by the armies of heaven.  His eyes will be as blazing fire.  Written on His blood stained robe and thigh will be the Name: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Whether you are ready or not, the King is coming.  On that day all who have ignored Him, or have only offered lip service to Him, will witness His awesome majesty - and realize too late that He is God.

The Bible promises that every eye will see His return...every knee will bow before Him...and every tongue will confess that He is Lord.  That event will strike indescribable fear in the hearts of the many who have cast Him aside.  But, for the few who truly know Him and are watching for Him...oh, what a glorious day that will be!

On that night in Bethlehem many years ago, no room could be found for Him in the inn.  Today, almost two thousand years later, there is no room in the hearts of men for the One who has control of their next breath and heartbeat, and who will rule and reign forever and ever.

Are you ready to meet Him?  One day soon we will all see Jesus face to face.  Is He your Savior, your Lord, and the Master of your life?  You must be very sure.

Come quickly, Lord Jesus…as You promised!

Rejoice, Yerushalayim (Jerusalem)

Sometimes, nothing more than the Word of Adonai is needed to bolster our confidence that the day is coming when Israel will indeed rejoice. Much ado is being made over Jerusalem, and it has become a burdensome stone-Zechariah 12:3. Nations are in an uproar and seeking to divided God’s Holy City. But hear the Word of the Lord: Isaiah 62:6-12

 I have posted watchmen on your walls, Yerushalayim;
they will never fall silent, neither by day nor by night.
You who call on Adonai, give yourselves no rest;
and give him no rest till he restores Yerushalayim
and makes it a praise on earth.
Adonai has sworn by his right hand and by his mighty arm:
“Never again will I give your grain to your enemies as food;
nor will strangers drink your wine, for which you worked so hard;
but those who harvest the grain will eat it with praises to Adonai;
those who gathered the wine will drink it in the courtyards of my sanctuary.”
Go on through, go on through the gates, clear the way for the people!
Build up a highway, build it up! Clear away the stones!
Raise a banner for the peoples!
Adonai has proclaimed to the end of the earth,
“Say to the daughter of Tziyon, ‘Here, your Salvation is coming!
Here, his reward is with him, and his recompense is before him.’”
They will call them The Holy People, The Redeemed of Adonai.
You will be called D’rushah [Sought-After],
‘Ir Lo Ne‘ezvah [City-No-Longer-Abandoned]. From the Complete Jewish Bible.

Yerushalayim will be divided by the Anti-Christ. He will make a 7 year peace treaty with Israel and break it 3 and a half years later. It’s at that time God will stand up for His people and destroy those nations that have come against Israel and divided her land. Zechariah 14. Our part is to pray now, and Trust the Lord with all our hearts. Be watching, be ready~the Lord will keep His Word…all of it!

Psalm 122:6 Pray for the peace of Yerushalayim; may those who love you prosper. May shalom be within your ramparts, prosperity in your palaces.

MANSIONS IN GLORY

I love many of the old gospel hymns, and often reflect on their music and lyrics.  Recently, one of them titled, "Mansion Over The Hilltop", has echoed through my mind repeatedly.  The words of the chorus within that song are as follows:

I've got a mansion just over the hilltop,
In that bright land where we'll never grow old;
And someday yonder we will never more wander,
But walk the streets that are purest gold.

Jesus gave His promise of mansions in heaven for believers as written in John 14:1-3 NKJV.

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

Just imagine!  The Master Architect of the heavens and the earth is in heaven today preparing a special home for each one who belongs to Him.  The magnificence of His creation that we see here on earth is but a tiny preview of what heaven will be like.  We see majestic mountains and peaceful valleys, breath-taking sunsets, star-studded night skies and deep blue seas.  We also see lush meadows with delicate flowers, graceful birds of the air, green forests and fields of waving grain…just to mention some of our earthly beauty.

Our minds simply cannot imagine the grandeur that awaits believers in heaven as the Apostle Paul recorded for us in 1 Cor. 2:9 NIV.

“However, as it is written:  ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has promised for those who love Him.’”

The day is coming soon when I will hear my name called from the hills of glory.  Jesus will be there, and will be the first to welcome me with outstretched arms.  When I see my Savior, I will know Him by His shining, smiling face and by the scars in the nail pierced hands of the One who suffered and died for me in my place.  We will sing together, and laugh and talk as we stroll hand in hand down the endless streets of pure gold.  All of that and so much more will be in store for those who have confessed Him as Lord.

The dwelling place promised to me will be there, too, but will pale in comparison when I finally see the King of Kings and Lord of Lords face to face...for He is all that will matter.  It will make no difference whether the heavenly home prepared for me is a picturesque masterpiece on a hilltop, a simple one room cabin in the woods, or perhaps something else beyond our ability to comprehend.  The most important thing is that my Savior is in heaven...I will be there where He is...and it will be forever.

However, Jesus is preparing a place for only those who truly know Him.  If He is not the Lord of your life...if He is not your all-in-all...and if you cannot say with confidence that He is your Blessed Hope and Salvation by faith alone, then, you will not enter through heaven's gate.

Do you know Him today?  Is Jesus preparing a place for you?

You must be very sure!

A War To Win...

Now, more than ever, we need to storm heaven's gates and lift our hearts and voices in fervent prayer for Israel. We dare not shirk this awesome responsibility to pray for the peace of Zion (Jerusalem) and its inhabitants. Psalm 83 is taking place and Ezekiel 38 could be right on its heels. The Mid East is on fire, and God will not be mocked by barbaric hoards who worship a false god and his false prophet and call for the destruction of Jews.
A battle rages in the heavenlies, as Adonai Elohei Tzva'ot (the Lord God of Heaven's Hosts) sends His angels to fight against the principalities of evil in that region. We have the privilege of fighting along side them, and by our anointed, effectual prayers, we can help them bring down the dark powers. Gear up, Soldiers. The Lord of Lords is leading the charge, and we have a war to win!

IT COULD NEVER HAPPEN HERE

I am certainly not a prophet, nor, would I want to be one.  Heaven forbid that I would even sound like a prophet.  However, there have been many times when I have had premonitions about things that actually did happen soon thereafter.  There have been other times when I simply had a "gut feeling” concerning things that also proved to be reasonably accurate.

I believe that Obama’s first term has been used by him to methodically set up the USA for planned collapse as a free nation.  If he is re-elected, a second term of controlling dictatorship and socialism could spell disaster, and destroy the USA as we know it.  Many of Obama’s programs and devastating Executive Orders designed to accomplish his purpose will be phased in during the next year or so, and very few can be reversed.  A second term would be like the Titanic backing up to ram the iceberg a second time.

The following random items are worst case and belong in my "gut feeling" category.   In my opinion, many of the items could take place during his next four year term, thereby forcing people to be totally dependent on the government for their survival.  With no third term in the offing, all stops would likely be removed to accomplish his devastating objectives.

* Unemployment could rise to un-presented levels due to business cut-backs and failures caused by an imposed negative business climate of rising costs, increased taxes and fees, and added government demands for business operations.

* Taxes will need to rise dramatically for all in order to feed the government machine.  The result will strangle the taxpayers, and will increase poverty and dependence on government.

* Due to the government’s increasing appetite for out-of-control spending and with its lending sources drying up, it could freeze personal funds.  Then, it could “borrow” from the $7 billion located in various taxpayer bank accounts, IRA’s, 401-k accounts, trust funds, and investment assets.  The “borrowed” funds would likely never be returned because the IOU’s would be based on worthless paper.  Today, the USA is essentially bankrupt and desperately in need of money.

* Obama has initiated and signed hundreds of back-room Executive Orders for programs, all lending support to his dictator style of leadership.  Their primary purpose is simply to by-pass our elected law makers, thereby eliminating objection discussions and vetoes.  He has the power through Executive Orders to establish laws of his choosing for his purpose.  Our government law makers are rapidly becoming irrelevant.

* Expect to see government control of ALL SOURCES of food supply, its pricing, and its availability.  Control the food to control the people…submission via starvation.  Also, fuel and transportation, energy consumption, purchased goods, housing, travel, firearms, medical services and pharmaceuticals could have stringent new restrictions with forced impromptu inspections to verify compliance.  Obamacare will ultimately be forced on all, and will cause untold numbers of fatalities from Death Panels denying needed treatments for seniors and “non-productive” people.

* Nation-wide rioting could take place on a scale never before experienced…requiring that Martial Law be declared and enforced by the Dept. of Homeland Security, the military, and police forces.  Desperate people are dangerous people.  Bloodshed in our neighborhoods would likely happen.

* Reduction of our military capabilities worldwide, our catering to Islamic nations, and our refusal to identify and declare nations and peoples as enemies of the USA could result in a devastating attack within the borders our country due to our weakened position.

* Islamic Shariah Law could replace much, if not all, of the U.S. Constitution as the new law of our land.  That is already happening behind the scenes in many places at an alarming rate.

* Bible believing/preaching churches will likely be forced to either change their message or shut down.  Some will choose to operate underground…hidden away from the public eye.  However, today, many churches would not be affected because they are already spewing out tolerant, non-offensive, watered-down messages that are deemed socially acceptable.

* Expect severe penalties to be imposed on all who are not in agreement or in compliance with new government programs and policies.  Among other things, violations would include refusal to embrace abortion, homosexuality, same-sex marriage and civil unions.

* The consequences for those who follow a Biblical worldview could include being identified and forcibly escorted to detention camps for re-indoctrination…or, for execution if rehabilitation efforts fail.  A present day holocaust could be in the planning stages.

* The number of Muslims in our country has increased almost three-fold in recent years.  A short term priority goal of Islam is to destroy the USA (the great Satan), and Israel (the little Satan).  Thousands of mosques have been established in cities throughout the nation...signifying their domination of an area.  Muslims have successfully infiltrated every branch of government, education, law, media, military, politics, banking, private industry, and even religious denominations as mandated by Islam.  It seems that we are unable or unwilling to stop the Islamic invasion, in part due to our PC laws and tolerance mentality.  As Muslims gain a greater foot-hold, expect them to become even more forceful and demanding to achieve their objective.

* If Obama is a closet Muslim as is suspected by many, then, he must do his part to follow the Islamic mandate to destroy America.  His efforts during his first term have certainly set the stage for accomplishing that goal.  All support for Israel will be removed as well.  If he is re-elected for another term, I believe that his promise and mission to fundamentally transform America as we know it will likely be completed.  If that should happen (there is very little we could do to stop it), then, it will have taken 236 years to build the USA…and 8 years to tear it down.

Most people would believe that many of the things listed are nothing but conspiracy ramblings that "could never happen here.”   But, that is the kind of thinking that has blinded the American people to what has already happened...all the while believing it "could never happen here."  We need to open our eyes and think about that!

My Assessment of the Super Storm’s Aftermath

Several states in the northeastern part of the U.S. (primarily NJ, NY, PA, WV, CT, & VA) have been hard hit as never before.  The long-term effects will likely be even more devastating and more costly than those of 9/11.  Yes, the wind, rain and flooding has slowed and moved on, but the worst might be yet to come...and it could begin to happen quickly.

Within the severely hit areas, I fear that the situation on the ground might be much worse and less optimistic than people are being led to believe.  I certainly hope I am wrong.

A number of businesses using generators will attempt to limp along at reduced levels as fuel supplies permit.  However, it will likely take weeks, if not months, to patch the basic infrastructure enough for it to function in ways resembling normalcy.  The damage caused by “Sandy” is unprecedented.  Also, winter is only a few short weeks away bringing its life-threatening cold and snowy weather.

Consider this for those hardest hit areas:

* Power outages have affected many millions of people in several states.  Granted, power will be restored in various locations within a few days, but much of it will not return for weeks, if not longer.

* Loss of power means no heat and lights; no sewer system; no food available; no ATM or debit card usage; no credit cards; no local banks; no fuel; no shopping; and limited phone systems.

* Flooding has caused roads and bridges to be damaged or destroyed; contamination of potable water; extensive damage to homes, schools, and businesses; damage to electrical systems; damage to automobiles; and damage to subway systems.  Historical sites have been damaged.

* Public unrest will begin to set in within a few days as desperate people struggle for survival.  Widespread looting by roving gangs will surely happen as the "have not's" forcibly take from those that "have".  Desperate people are dangerous people, and innocent lives will be at risk.

* Large areas will likely be declared uninhabitable...forcing people into mass shelters for extended periods.  Those leaving on their own will need to relocate many miles away.

* Thousands of people will be homeless for months or longer, and many will never return to homes that have largely been demolished beyond repair.

* Business failures will happen as they are abandoned due to destruction and/or lack of public support.

* The waterfront docks for commerce will likely not be fully usable for days or weeks.

* What has happened to the numerous nuclear power plants in the storm's path?

* Where will the billions of funding dollars, qualified manpower, equipment, and materials come from for the rebuilding effort?

* It is one thing for a disaster to occur with several months of "good" weather ahead, but it is quite another thing that winter is just around the corner.

* In the coming weeks, many people could die from starvation, exposure, lack of medical care, violence, loss of mobility, employment loss, and the inability to mentally cope with their losses.

* Insurance costs will rise to unaffordable levels for many; food costs will skyrocket from the drain on nationwide supplies; and fuel costs will surely increase as well.

Our prayers must go out to all affected by the storm, for there are many who are hurting and under emotional distress.    Pray for those who have suffered the loss of loved ones, and who have experienced destruction of their homes.  Pray that they would lean on the Lord for comfort, strength, and provision...the only sure hope during the difficult days and weeks that lie ahead.

We must remember that even after several years following hurricane Katrina, many areas in and around New Orleans have not yet been repaired or rebuilt.  In spite of best efforts, will areas of NY, NJ, and other states suffer the same fate?  In my opinion, that is a definite possibility.

THE SAVING GOSPEL FROM A TO Z

It is a horrible thought that anyone might be separated from God forever...a thought that brings tears to my eyes.  His love for us is beyond our human understanding, and because of that great love, He has provided a way for all to spend eternity with Him if they choose to believe.

Old Testament saints and New Testament saints who died prior to Jesus' sacrifice on the cross became worthy in the eyes of God by a believing faith in the future coming of the promised Messiah...by obedience with animal blood sacrifices...and by keeping the Law.  However, in the New Testament when Messiah Jesus, the perfect sacrificial Lamb of God, paid the ultimate price for all the sins of the whole world on the Cross of Calvary, a new blood covenant for mankind was established for salvation.  The age of Grace began at that time.  Also, having conquered death and the grave He made it possible for believing mankind to have life through Him.

Because Adam and Eve chose to disobey God and fall into sin in the Garden of Eden, all of humanity was then cursed with an inborn sin nature separating them from God.  The result of that separation is eternal spiritual death.  We are all guilty of sin, and there is nothing we can do within ourselves to close the separation gap.

Romans 3:23
"For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God."

We are not worthy of God's grace, and we all must realize that we are lost sinners in need of a Savior and His forgiveness.

Romans 5:8
"But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

In His infinite wisdom, God provided a way for us to be saved from our sins.  God showed us His love by allowing us to choose eternal life through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ."

Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."

If we remain as un-forgiven sinners, we will die spiritually.  However, if we choose to accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord, and repent of our sins, we will have eternal life.  It is not enough to simply believe that he existed as a man, or that He was a great teacher.  Many people believe those things, but without declaring Him as their personal Savior and Lord with a repentant faith, all hope will be lost for them.

Romans 10:9-10
"That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Romans 10:13
"For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

There are no religious formulas or rituals required.  If a “righteous life” is lived using the understanding of man, but without the Lord as Savior, then, that life will count for nothing.  It is all about faith and trust in Him.  Just confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved.  Jesus is the only bridge spanning the spiritual separation between God and man.  He stated in John 14:6 that He is the only Way...the only Truth...and the only Life.

There is so much more than simply believing that Jesus existed and that He was a brilliant man.  He is Almighty God with all power, glory, and majesty...and there is none other.  Jesus as the second Person of the Trinity has always existed as God from eternity past.  During His brief thirty three years here on earth, He was God manifest in human flesh...fully God and fully man.  He came here to fulfill His plan of offering salvation to all who would believe and receive Him into their life.

It is not His will that any should perish, but that all would choose to follow Him.  Jesus is reaching out for you to receive Him into your life.  If you have been convicted of your spiritually lost condition and have a heartfelt desire to follow Him, then, you might pray something like this:

"Oh God, help me!  I need You in my life.  I’m so sorry for the things I’ve done.  I'm sorry I had turned my back on You for so long.  I can't go on without You.  I believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He died for me, in my place, for all my sin.  I believe that He rose from the dead and is in heaven today preparing a place for me.  Oh God, forgive all my sins.  By faith alone I now accept Jesus Christ as my Savior, and confess that He is Lord over all.  Come into my heart and life now, today, and help me to live a life that's pleasing and honoring to You.  Thank You in Jesus' Name - Amen!”

If you sincerely prayed a prayer like that, then, as He has promised, He will hear your prayer.  Your salvation through Him becomes instantly sealed forever...giving you the assurance that you are a heaven-bound child of God and a rightful heir to His kingdom.  Only those who have placed their faith and trust in Him alone can be called sons and daughters of the most-high Almighty God.

The day is surely coming soon when all believers will see Him face to face, and will fall on their knees before Him.  Then, they will hear Jesus say, "My child, I have redeemed you, your sins once as scarlet are whiter than snow - you are Mine forever!"

Oh, what wonderful words of life...eternal life!

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED

There are only two kinds of people in this world.  They are those who are heaven bound...and those who won't be going there.  Heaven is a very special place that requires an advance reservation.  It is a prepared place for a prepared people.  Heaven is not a place where one can just show up at the gate following death, and then, try to make a case for admission.  In fact, without that reservation, no one will even catch a glimpse of heaven’s gate, but instead, they will be immediately carried away to await the final judgment for unbelievers at the Great White Throne.

The absurd notion of St. Peter standing at the heavenly gate with a clipboard in hand, asking those standing in line whether they have been bad or good, is a worldly fairy tale.  Although it has been the subject of many jokes, some people actually believe it.  The truth is, however, that story is a mockery of the Word of God.

The cost of the reservation was paid by Jesus' shed blood and death on the cross where He suffered and died in our place to purchase our redemption.  He took all the sin of the world upon Himself, including yours and mine, and paid sin's full price for us in our place.  Then, by His resurrection, He was victorious over death and the grave, that all who believe might have eternal life through Him.

His sacrifice is a free gift offered to all who would humbly reach out to accept it.  We must believe in our heart that He paid the sin penalty in full for you and me...that we are forever lost without Him...and that anything we attempt to do of ourselves to earn salvation, or to make ourselves more worthy in the eyes of God, is all for nothing.

His salvation offer requires that we place our complete faith and trust in Him alone...that we ask forgiveness and repent of our sin-filled life...and that we invite Him into our life, changing us into the person He would have us be.  Finally, we must boldly declare before others that Jesus is Lord of all.

Jesus said that He is the only Way, the only Truth, and the only Life.  He alone holds heaven’s reservation for you and me, but we must deliberately reach out to receive it.  Without it, no one will enter through heaven's gate.

Are you absolutely certain you have your reservation?  You must be very sure!

Yom Kippur...Forgiveness

Tonight, at sundown, (Tishri 9 or September 25, 2012) Israelis will humble themselves before God in prayer, fasting and abstaining from any kind of work or personal pleasure. All forms of entertainment shut down, restaurants and businesses close. It is the highest Holy Day of Israel, Yom Kippur, and the nation of Israel observes it together as one people. While it leaves them vulnerable, I believe God surrounds them with His hand of protection, and we have the privilege of covering them with our prayers.

Leviticus 16:29 "It is to be a permanent regulation for you, that on the tenth day of the seventh month, you are to deny yourselves and not do any kind of work, both the citizen and the foreigner living with you. For on this day, atonement will be made for you to purify you; you will be clean before Adonai from all your sins. It is a Shabbat of complete rest for you, and you are to deny yourselves.

Leviticus 23:26-32 Adonai said to Moshe, "The tenth day of this seventh month is Yom-Kippur; you are to have a holy convocation, you are to deny yourselves, and you are to bring an offering made by fire to Adonai. You are not to do any kind of work on that day, because it is Yom-Kippur, to make atonement for you before Adonai your God. Anyone who does not deny himself on that day is to be cut off from his people; and anyone who does any kind of work on that day, I will destroy from among his people. You are not to do any kind of work; it is a permanent regulation through all your generations, no matter where you live. It will be for you a Shabbat of complete rest, and you are to deny yourselves; you are to rest on your Shabbat from evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening."

God was emphatic about denying oneself...it was to be a day of repentance and seeking forgiveness for ones sins. Jews today fast, do not bathe or use personal cosmetics of any kind, engage in marital relations, or wear leather shoes. This is to show a sincere, humble attitude toward God. No food or drink keeps ones mind focused on God and fosters sympathy with those who are poor and without basic needs. Refraining from bathing and using personal body and beauty products is a reminder of those who do not have such comforts. Denying marital relations lets one feel for those who are lonely and without someone special or family. Refraining from wearing leather, which comes from a slaughtered animal, shows a respect for God's creation while seeking His forgiveness.

At the time of the giving of this commandment until the destruction of the Temple in A.D. 70, the High Priest would enter the Holy of Holies through a heavy curtain of separation and make atonement for the nation of Israel.

As true Believers in Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Messiah), we know His death on the crucifixion stake (cross) rent the veil of separation, and with His resurrection from the dead, we now have Yeshua as our High Priest, who made a way for us to enter the Holy of Holies into God's presence. For us, observing Yom Kippur is not a matter of works for salvation, but rather a celebration of a righteous holy God accepting the sacrifice of His righteous, holy Son, Yeshua/Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins.

May it at least be a day of intense prayer for our nation and for the nation (not state) of Israel.

FROM DEEP VALLEYS TO THE MOUNTAIN TOPS

Today, good people sometimes struggle with pain and uncertainty due to unforeseen circumstances in their journey through life. Unexpected and overwhelming obstacles blocking their path...many of which can be in the form of financial, health, employment, relationship issues, and more...are sources of great concern and heartbreak to them. Many folks are desperate, and do not know which way to turn.

Perhaps I can understand some of what they might be going through because I have also faced formidable trials more than a time or two during my life. Yes, there were times when I found myself in a deep valley with a steep mountain blocking my pathway. But, do you know what? God is in the business of moving mountains for us if we have placed our complete faith and trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord of our life. Although none of us can know what tomorrow might bring, He knows of all our tomorrows and beyond.

In Jeremiah 29:11-13 we read: "'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.'"

That is a great promise for all who have committed their life to Him! Jesus’ hand is always outstretched and ready to receive all who are willing to reach out by accepting Him as Savior, and by declaring Him Lord of their life. Take His hand and hold on tightly! Ask Him to lead you each step of the way through the dark valleys, and He will do it according to His plan for your life. Cast all of your concerns on Him and trust Him, for He desires to have a day-by-day personal relationship with His own. He cared for me in my times of need...and He can do the same for you.

Perhaps you already possess the heart knowledge of salvation, grace, and the comfort He freely offers to all who would choose to accept it. If so, you need to praise God and thank Him! But if not, then, turn to Him today. Reach out and receive Jesus as Savior and Lord of your life. Place your complete faith and trust in Him and His promises. Then, follow in His footsteps as He leads you out of the dark valleys and into the sunshine on the mountain tops.

Not Backing Down on This... It's That Serious!

Deception in Disguise
by Heidi Swander
February 24, 2011

"Mormon leaders call their empire the 'Kingdom of God.'  However, their 'God' is an extraterrestrial from [the planet] Kolob, definitely not the God of the Bible; and the 'Zion' to which their spirit-brother-of-Lucifer Jesus Christ will return to reign, is Independence, My kingdom comeMissouri." So writes author and former Mormon Ed Decker in his book My Kingdom Come.

"It is the Mormons' claim to be the true Israel," Decker states in his book.  "Mormons believe that they are the only true Jews on Earth today.  They also believe they come from the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh, and that they have the true blood of Israel.  Mormon males are ordained into what they believe are both the Leviticus and Melchizedek priesthoods.  They believe that when they are baptized, their blood actually changes from Gentile blood into the blood of Israel."

According to Decker, a Mormon for 20 years of his adult life prior to embracing true faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Mormon Church (aka The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or "LDS" for short) espouses rituals that have "significant parallels with Freemasonry, the occult, and Luciferianism."

In an endorsement to the book Mormonism's Temple of Doom, Dr. Walter Martin, well-known Christian counter-cult apologist, wrote, "Controversy has arisen over the book in that some people have understood the authors to be saying that Mormonism is a lineal descendant of specific occult organizations (i.e., Freemasonry).  I can understand how that conclusion can be reached.  The authors have stated that 'undeniable similarities exist between Mormonism and other occult organizations' . . . They contend that disciplines such as Mormonism, Freemasonry, and Wicca are streams of the same Satanic river.  This can be substantiated as fact."

In light of this, it is alarming to note that there is a movement afoot today, in so-called evangelical circles, to embrace Mormons as fellow Christians.  One example: The National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) has chosen to hold their semi-annual board meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, this spring, for the express purpose of dialoguing with LDS leaders to "deepen our understanding of the Mormon faith and contribute to the on-going work of evangelicals in Utah."  Read that sentence again.  Please take note that that sentence assumes that Mormonism and Christianity are synonymous.  They are not.  Therefore, a statement by NAE president Leith Anderson expressing a desire to find "common ground on issues" with LDS is futile.  There is no common ground between Christianity and Mormonism.

It is vital that every true believer in Jesus Christ grasp the myriad and eternally-significant differences between Mormonism and biblical Christianity, because the alternative is to be easily deceived into an unequal yoke with unbelievers.  This knowledge is particularly essential today because, at present, America has a number of prominent Mormons adorning our television screens and influencing American policy including Governor Mitt Romney, Glenn Beck, Senator Harry Reid and Senator Orrin Hatch.

Jerry Johnson, founder and president of The Apologetics Group, Inc. says, "I have known a lot of Mormons.  In fact, my grandfather was a Mormon, and they are some of the best and most moral people I've ever met . . . They have wanted to, really, kind of be equated with historic evangelical Christianity, when everything they believe is antithetical to what the Bible and the church has always taught.

Because Mormons are morally upright, true Christians easily gravitate to them.  Because Mormons use verbiage that sounds biblical, Christians can be easily duped.  Decker explains that, "The Mormon leadership will not tamper with the definitions that have separated them from Orthodoxy for over 170 years.  They will spend their time trying to look as Christian as possible so that they can draw in the converts needed to keep the great caravan rolling, however crooked its path."

The Mormon Church began because Joseph Smith had a vision of "an angel of light" calling himself Moroni who explained to Joseph that all the churches of his day were wrong, all their creeds corrupt.  Then, Moroni gave him directive for a brand new religion to promulgate: Mormonism, with all its occult practices and unbiblical doctrines.

I cannot commend to you highly enough Ed Decker's book, My Kingdom Come.  You will not recognize the deception, when it comes, without understanding the foundation and fantastic doctrines of this increasingly-accepted and deceptive cult.  The Apostle Paul clearly warned of such a thing:  "But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed" (Gal. 1:8-9).

GLORIOUS THINGS ARE SPOKEN OF YOU, O CITY OF GOD!

Psalm 87:1-3 NKJV
1 His foundation is in the holy mountains.
2 The LORD loves the gates of Zion
More than all the dwellings of Jacob.
3 Glorious things are spoken of you,
         O city of God! Selah

After another busy day, I finally sat down to relax and watch some TV - hoping to catch up on the latest news. However, my channel surfing stopped when I came upon a repeat performance video of a Bill Gaither concert filmed a few years ago in old Jerusalem. It was titled, "Israel Homecoming".

Perhaps some of you have seen it before. With the music, the scenery, the worship, and with the Biblical historical and future significance Israel will surely play in the days ahead, it's very moving - bringing tears to my eyes. If you have a love for those things, as I do, I would recommend seeing the video when you have the opportunity. It is very well done and would bless your heart.

As a Bible believing child of God, I have a deep love for Israel and the Jewish people. I would have loved to visit there sometime during my life. Just the thought of breathing the air that Jesus breathed, standing on the ground where He stood, seeing the sights He saw, walking the same dusty roads He walked, and savoring the sweet fragrance of the Holy Land in bloom is overwhelming. I can only imagine.

Also, it would be humbling beyond description to see the places where He performed His miracles, the Garden of Gethsemane, Mt. Calvary, the Mt. of Olives, the empty tomb of our risen Lord, and so much more - not to worship or idolize those places, but to simply stand in awe of my Savior, Lord and Master, Who was there and will return soon as King of Kings and Lord of Lords - just as He said He would.

Praise God and hallelujah! What a glorious day that will be for all who belong to Him!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY

As we struggle through the storms that seem to come upon us almost daily in this life, our eyes must be firmly fixed on Jesus to carry us through the dark valleys. As never before, we must walk hand in hand with Him...we must talk with Him...and we must listen to His voice as He leads the way.

Father, thank You for the privilege we have of sharing with You during our times of sadness, discouragement, and thanksgiving, too. Thank You for being there where we are, and for Your mighty hand of strength, healing, and comfort in our times of need. Lead us, Lord, in the way You would have for us...for we are weak and worn from the storms. Keep us safe and secure in the shelter of Your arms, and never let us go. Search our hearts, O Lord, and if any wicked way be found there, flood our hearts and souls with Your cleansing power as You have promised to do for Your own. Teach us to lean on You and depend on You in all things, that we would cast aside our concerns of life. Thank You, Father, for Your salvation freely offered to all who would believe. We pray that many would do that...even today. We love You, and desire to serve You with everything within us for Your honor and glory. I ask and pray these things in the precious Name of Jesus...that Name above all names. Amen!

Explanation of Islam's Agenda

A German's View on Islam - worth reading  This is by far the best  explanation of the Muslim terrorist situation I have ever read.  His references to past history are accurate and clear.  Not long, easy to understand, and well worth the read. The  author of this email is Dr. Emanuel Tanya, a well-known  and well-respected psychiatrist.

A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.

'Very few people were true Nazis,' he said, 'but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.'

We are told  again and again by 'experts' and 'talking heads' that Islam is  the religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims  just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.

The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honour-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals.  It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.

The hard, quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the 'silent majority,' is cowed and extraneous.
Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who  just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists  were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people.  The peaceful majority were irrelevant.. China 's huge population  was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese  individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist.  Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East  Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed  by sword, shovel, and bayonet.

And who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were 'peace loving'?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points: Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.
Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from  Germany , they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics  own them, and the end of their world will have  begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians,  Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died  because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too  late.
As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts--the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

Lastly, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes this email without sending it on, is contributing to the  passiveness that allows the problems to expand. So, extend yourself a bit and send this on and on and on!
Let us hope that thousands, world-wide, read this and think about it, and send it on - before it's too late.

Now Islamic prayers have been introduced into Toronto and other public schools in Ontario, and, yes, in Ottawa too while the Lord's Prayer was removed (due to being so offensive?) The Islamic way may be peaceful for the time being in our country until the fanatics move in. And we are silent.......

Ad Slams President's Israel Record...

I have not posted in a while because, frankly, I can't keep up with all that's happening in the MidEast! Prophecy is being fulfilled at an ever increasing rate, and it's time we got our heads out of the sand and started looking UP!

Ad Slams Obama's Israel Record in Newspapers Across America
by Rachel Hirshfeld Ad Slams Obama Record in Newspapers Across America
from Arutz Sheva... IsraelNationalNews.com

The Emergency Committee for Israel (ECI) political advocacy organization published a full-page ad on Thursday in 23 Jewish newspapers across America highlighting liberal criticism of President Barack Obama’s stance toward Israel.

"President Obama has been trying to have it both ways -- pursuing policies that weaken the U.S.-Israel alliance while boasting on the campaign trail that he is the most pro-Israel president since Truman," ECI’s executive director Noah Pollak said in a statement. "As the Obama campaign attempts to mislead about the president's record, it is important that American Jews understand what many prominent liberals are now conceding -- this president's approach to Israel has been hostile, ineffective, and at odds with the promises he made in 2008."

The ad, which is said to reach approximately 600,000 Jewish voters, details Obama’s “deeply troubled relationship with the pro-Israel community over the last three years, and the mounting danger to Israel posed by an Iranian regime that is closer than ever to obtaining a nuclear weapon.”

U.S. Ambassador to Israel under President Clinton Martin Indyk is cited as saying, “From his first day in the White House, he put the Middle East at the top of his political agenda. Unfortunately for him, his personal involvement only made things worse.”

“The president sees how the Iranians mock him- and does nothing. He sees radical Islam approaching the nuclear brink- and does not budge. ...The president is pushing Israel into a corner, but is hoping that Israel will accept its fate submissively,” reads a comment by Ha’Aretz columnist Avi Shavit.

“We believed from that point that we were in for problems. And we were right,” said national director of the Anti-Defamation League, Abraham Foxman.

The ad even cites a former ‘Palestinian’ political adviser as saying that Obama’s Mideast political agenda has consistently shown “a complete lack of an emotion-based relationship with Israel.”

The ad concludes by asking: “What will they be saying after another four year of Obama?”

WILL HE FIND FAITH?

Faith is defined in Hebrews 11:1 as being sure of things hoped for and certain of things not seen.  As is recorded in 2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”  Hebrews 11:6 warns that without faith it is impossible to please God.  Salvation is offered to us by God’s grace through faith alone, not a result of any works as explained in Ephesians 2:8.

If Jesus should return today, would He find a strong and steadfast faith within you?  Are you prepared to meet Him face to face?  Are you longing for that day with the confidence and assurance that can only come through faith in Him?

If you’re not sure, then perhaps you haven’t truly met Him at the cross.  If that describes you, I would urge you to invite Him into your life as your Savior and Lord now before it’s too late.  He is patiently waiting at the door of your heart for you to let Him in.

You must reach out to Him by faith to receive the gift of salvation He freely offers to us.  After you realize that you are eternally lost in sin and need the Savior in your life, then humbly bow down and submit yourself before God in prayer to confess your sins and ask Him to forgive them.  Invite Jesus into your heart as the Savior and the Lord of your life.  If you are sincere in your desire to live your life for Him, then God will hear your prayer as He has promised.

Romans 10:9,10 NASB
That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

Romans 10:13 NKJV
For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Before we can claim God’s promise of salvation, it must be believed and accepted by faith alone.  When Jesus returns soon, will He find true faith in your heart and life?  You must be very sure.  Your eternal destiny depends on how you can answer that question.

As Jesus said to Thomas many years ago, “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29b NKJV)

Isaiah 17 and 19...Current Events

Are you paying attention to the headlines about the latest developments in the Middle East? You don't need a newspaper, or the internet, you can read about them in the Bible!

Isaiah 17 begins: "The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap." Isaiah 19 begins: "The burden against Egypt. Behold, the LORD rides on a swift cloud, And will come into Egypt; the idols of Egypt will totter at His presence, and the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst.“I will set Egyptians against Egyptians; everyone will fight against his brother, and everyone against his neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.

The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst; I will destroy their counsel, and they will consult the idols and the charmers, the mediums and the sorcerers. And the Egyptians I will giveinto the hand of a cruel master, and a fierce king will rule over them,” Says the Lord, the LORD of hosts.""

These things are happening before our very eyes! They were the headlines in the news this weekend, June 17th, 2012! BUT... "We can't be living in the last days." "We don't need to worry about such things, we need to make the world a better place." "Every generation thought they were the one in which the Lord would come back." I hear this, even from my own family. And yet, nothing like what has happened in my generation has ever happened before. Israel has become a nation once again. Jews have had their ancient language, Hebrew, restored. Eretz Isra'el, (the land of Israel) left to dry up like a desert for thousands of years, is now blooming and prosperous. Prophecy, after prophecy is being fulfilled. That which the Lord spoke thousands of years ago, even before Yeshua/Jesus was born, is now being fulfilled. These are prophecies of the last days-the days in which we live.

You can scoff. You can ridicule. You can brush it off. You can ignore. But you can't argue with God and what He has spoken in His Word! He has proven Himself faithful in every aspect of fulfilling His promises, both positive and judgmental.

"No man knows the day or the hour." So some argue. But Yeshua/Jesus said in Luke 21:28: "And when these things BEGIN to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near." He went on to say in verse 36: "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that SHALL come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."

To get the whole picture, read between verses 28 and 36, then read the whole chapter. Part of it is for the remnant Jews living during the first three years of tribulation. Part of it is for us, living in the days prior, when He said He would come as a thief in the night to those who are not looking for Him to come back. We are children of the Light...and He admonishes us to not be as those who walk in darkness, but to be aware of what's happening and to be watching and ready for His return!

Are you?

Isaiah 19-Egypt...Last Days

If you've never read or understood Isaiah 19, Isaiah's prophecy concerning Egypt in the last days, read it now...it's happening! And the second half of that prophecy will come to pass when Yeshua returns to His people and sets up His Kingdom in Israel/Jerusalem! Mid

Egyptian Court Invalidates Parliamentary Election; Allows ex-Mubarak Official to Run

An Egyptian court has invalidated the recent parliamentary election calling it “unconstitutional” and necessitating a return to the ballot boxes. A second election-related issue was settled when the court ruled that a former prime minister under ousted President Hosni Mubarak will be allowed to run for the presidency despite a law banning Mubarak-era officials from seeking public office. The rulings were handed down only two days before the presidential run-off election is scheduled to be held. It pits Mohamed Morsi, the candidate of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Faith and Freedom Party against Ahmed Shafiq, a longtime confidant of Mubarak. Shafiq’s candidacy has been controversial because of the desire by many to move past the Mubarak years. When the Islamist-controlled parliament was set up in April, it immediately passed the law now struck down by the court that banned officials who served in Mubarak’s government during the last ten year of his reign from running for election. But many also fear that electing the Muslim Brotherhood’s candidate to head a government dominated by Islamist parties will inevitably lead to rule by religious law. From the MidEast Daily News
